FAQ
“And you may ask yourself; how did I get here?”
what should i bring to class?
Bring a yoga mat, a towel, and water. If you don’t have those things, we can help you out. Mats and towels are available for rent, and there’s a water cooler here if you need to fill up.
why the set sequences?
We believe in the power of routine. It gets a bad rap, even the word “routine” has a negative connotation, but routines and habits go a long way towards shaping our lives. The world is so unpredictable these days, a stable, steady practice can help ground us. Also, repeating the same sequence regularly makes it simple to gauge your individual needs and progress through your practice.
is your foundation class the same as bikram yoga?
Nope. Foundation shares some attributes with Bikram - 90 minutes, 105 degrees, set sequence, two sets of most poses, mirrors, etc…- but this practice is not the same. We do not use a script, tell people to lock their knees, or prohibit props. Also, the sequence is not the same; it’s constructed according to our best understanding of modern human beings and current movement science.

do you have small, cold, lavender-scented towels for my face after class?
No.
But aren’t those an important part of yoga?
Um. No.
who is asking all these questions ANYWAY?
You are. Obviously.
Where Is The Studio?
We’re above Stone Soup on College Street in downtown Burlington. We are to the right of Stone Soup (there’s another yoga studio to the left…) through a door that says “Hinterland Bridal”. They’re our neighbors. Go through that door, up one floor, and turn right. That’s us.
I’m not flexible.
That’s not a question.
Is that a problem?
Nope. We’re not here for people to show off their flexibility, we’re here to help them develop healthy mobility. In fact, very flexible students often find our practice unusually challenging.
so… what is a ‘second circle’ anyway…?
We’ll tell you when you’re older.
